Golf Instruction Must Include Mental Practice

After teaching golf professional for nearly a decade I must admit I am a slow learner. When I began my teaching career I focused solely on the mechanics of the golf swing. I became better at diagnosing and fixing swing problems and I could offer a variety of tips to help any golfer play better and lower their score.

But I could have done better.

I can only beg forgiveness to those students who I had worked with in the early years because I left out a vital part the most powerful method for improving golf once. I learn, and tools and techniques to improve the golfer's mind even started my teaching and coaching reached a different level.

E 'was found that most golfers golf swing spend 90% of their time and attention, but very few actually focus on the mental side of golf des This is a big mistake that many of us to do. But just knowing the best teachers.

Jim Flick one of the bestknown and most respected golf teachers once said that the game of golf is 90% mental and the other 10% is...mental!

So if the mindset is such an important part of golf and improvement, let's talk about a way to incorporate more of it into your game today.

If you're currently taking instruction from a PGA teaching professional, you likely know how hard it can be to change something in your swing. Even a minor change in your grip can feel so awkward and uncomfortable that for many players, it can be hard to stay on track with the change.

There is a way however that you can make this change easier and that's through the use of your mind and visualization. The form or technique is called disassociated visualization. In this particular methods you'll want to close your eyes and pretend you're looking at a video screen. On the screen you'll see you, just as if a camera were filming you.

To help make the physical changes, or swing The changes easier to a certain point, you see the mind's eye, much change is already happening. If there is a swing change, as may be the way to improve your swing back, check out the perfect backswing. If there is a complete execution of work contains such a perfect finish. Whatever you want, you can find in your head and get comfortable with it.

Make sure when you see, to try to make the video so colorful and realistic as possible. Listensounds you might hear on the course. Add in as many senses as you can in the process to make it more real.

Play this video of yourself and the change(s) you desire over and over again in your mind. Doing so while you're in a relaxed state, such as just before going to bed, is a good time to practice.

With a bit of time and attention what many players find is that the changes they are wanting to make actually come about more easily and more quickly than normal. In a way you have the benefit of getting more comfortable with the feeling and idea of change and I personally have felt that I didn't fight or struggle as much against the change (even when I knew it was in my best interest) once I began to visualize in this way.

So give this quick and easy technique a try. You'll be playing better golf in no time!
